We strictly comply with Algerian Law No. 18-07 of 10 June 2018 on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data, as amended and supplemented, as well as the guidelines of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP).

The data controller determines the purposes and means of processing the personal data collected through the Brikoula website and mobile application.

2. Data we collect

When you use the Brikoula platform, we may collect the following categories of data:

2.1 Identification and account data

  • First and last name

  • Username

  • Phone number

  • Profile photo

  • Account information and preferences

  • Information voluntarily added to your profile

2.2 User-generated content

Brikoula allows users to publish and exchange content. Depending on the features used, we may collect:

  • Brikoula requests and service-related posts

  • Business/store information and business pins

  • Property listings

  • Tourism-related information

  • Lost and found posts

  • Descriptions and other text submitted by users

  • Photos and other images uploaded by users

  • Reviews and ratings

  • Messages exchanged through the built-in chat system

This content may be displayed to other users where necessary for the operation of Brikoula and according to the visibility settings and functionality of the relevant feature.

2.3 Usage and account activity data

We may collect:

  • Interactions with Brikoula features

  • Reviews and ratings

  • Information relating to posts, pins, stores and listings created by the user

  • Messages exchanged through the built-in chat system

  • Information concerning the user's use of Brikoula features

2.4 Payment and purchase data

Brikoula offers digital purchases and subscriptions, including Brikoula Coins and Pro/Premium features.

  • Purchase history

  • Transaction identifiers

  • Product or subscription purchased

  • Purchase amount and currency

  • Purchase date and status

  • Information necessary to verify and manage purchases

  • Subscription status and renewal information where applicable

When purchases are made through Apple In-App Purchase, payment card or other payment credentials are processed by Apple and are not stored by Brikoula. Brikoula receives information necessary to verify and provide the purchased digital product or service, such as the transaction identifier, product identifier and purchase status.

Brikoula Coins are digital credits used within Brikoula, including to:

  • Contact another user

  • Display a business pin

  • Access or use certain Brikoula features

Pro and Premium provide additional functionality within Brikoula. Premium may be offered as a recurring subscription but users must explicitly request or consent to the renewal of the subscription.

2.5 Location data

Depending on the permissions granted by the user and the features used, we may collect:

  • Precise or approximate location

  • Location information used to display nearby services, requests, businesses and other relevant map content

Location may be used while the application is open and in use.

Brikoula does not intentionally collect continuous background location when the application is closed unless a specific feature requiring such access is introduced and the user has provided the required permission.

You can deny or withdraw location access through your device settings. This may limit certain Brikoula features.

2.6 Technical and diagnostic data

We may collect technical information necessary to operate, secure and improve the platform, such as:

  • Device and application information

  • Operating system information

  • IP address where applicable

  • Technical identifiers

  • Connection information

  • Crash and diagnostic information

  • Security and access logs

  • Performance information

3. How we collect data

Data may be collected:

  • Directly from information you provide when creating or using your account

5. Legal basis for processing

Processing is based on:

  • The performance of the platform's terms of use and provision of requested services

Where processing is based on consent, the user may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or technical limitations and the continued ability to provide features that require the relevant data.

6. Geolocation and map

Location information is used to provide Brikoula's location-based functionality, including:

  • Displaying nearby services and requests

  • Helping users discover nearby businesses and other map content

  • Improving the relevance of location-based results

  • Supporting features that depend on geographical proximity

Location permissions are controlled through the user's device.

You can deny or withdraw location access in your device settings. Certain features may not function correctly without location access.

7. User-generated content and communication

Brikoula is a platform that allows users to create, publish, discover and interact with user-generated content.

This may include:

  • Service requests

  • Business and store information

  • Business pins

  • Property listings

  • Tourism and location-related content

  • Lost and found posts

  • Reviews and ratings

  • Photos

  • Messages and other content submitted by users

Content may be visible to other users where necessary for the relevant Brikoula feature.

Messages exchanged through Brikoula's chat system may be processed and stored to provide the messaging service, maintain security, prevent abuse and resolve disputes or support requests.

Users are responsible for the content they publish and must comply with Brikoula's Terms of Use and applicable laws.

8. Sharing of data

We may share personal data in the following circumstances:

8.1 With other Brikoula users

Certain information is shared with other users as part of the normal operation of Brikoula, including information contained in:

  • Public or shared profiles

  • Service requests

  • Business/store pins

  • Property listings

  • Lost and found posts

  • Reviews and ratings

  • Photos

  • Other user-generated content

The amount of information visible to other users depends on the relevant Brikoula feature.

8.2 With service providers

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Brikoula, including providers involved in:

  • Hosting and infrastructure

  • Customer support

  • Payment and purchase verification

  • Subscription management

  • Other technical services necessary to provide Brikoula

Where Brikoula shares personal data with a third-party provider, Brikoula requires the provider to provide an appropriate level of protection for the personal data consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.

9. Apple In-App Purchases

Brikoula may offer digital purchases through Apple In-App Purchase on iOS.

These purchases may include:

  • Brikoula Coins

  • Pro upgrades

  • Premium subscriptions

  • Other digital features or functionality offered within Brikoula

Apple processes payments for purchases made through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Brikoula does not receive or store the user's full payment card number from Apple.

Brikoula may receive transaction and purchase information necessary to verify the purchase and provide the corresponding Coins, subscription or digital functionality.

Purchase and subscription information may be retained for transaction verification, account management, customer support, fraud prevention, accounting and legal compliance.

10. Data transfers

Brikoula stores personal data exclusively in Algeria where technically and legally applicable.

If Brikoula begins using a service provider that processes personal data outside Algeria, the applicable transfer will be handled in accordance with Algerian data protection requirements and the necessary legal safeguards. This Privacy Policy will be updated where required.

11. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Generally:

  • Account data: for as long as the account remains active and for a reasonable period necessary to handle account closure and legal obligations

  • User-generated content: while the content is published or for as long as necessary for the relevant service, subject to deletion requests and legal obligations

  • Messages: for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the messaging service, maintain security, prevent abuse and handle disputes or support requests

  • Purchase and transaction records: for the period required for transaction verification, accounting, fraud prevention and applicable legal obligations

  • Subscription information: for as long as necessary to manage the subscription and associated legal and accounting requirements

  • Security and technical logs: for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and legal purposes

  • Reviews and public profiles: while the account or relevant content remains active, subject to applicable deletion rules

Data may be archived or retained for longer where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud or maintain platform security.

12. Data security

Brikoula implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including:

  • Access controls

  • Encryption of communications

  • Access logging

  • Server protection

  • Restricted internal access

  • Authentication and authorization controls

  • Security monitoring

  • Measures designed to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of personal data

Anyone with authorized access to personal data is subject to confidentiality obligations.

However, no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Analytics and product improvement

Brikoula may use usage and technical data to understand how users interact with the application, evaluate the effectiveness of existing features, identify technical problems, improve performance and plan or develop new features.

Brikoula does not use this information to track users across unrelated third-party apps or websites for targeted advertising.

Where third-party analytics or diagnostic services are used, their collection and processing will be reflected in Brikoula's App Store privacy disclosures as required.

14. Advertising and marketing

Brikoula does not sell users' personal data to data brokers.

Brikoula does not use personal data for cross-app or cross-website tracking for targeted advertising.

If Brikoula introduces advertising or marketing practices that require additional data processing, this Privacy Policy and the relevant App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before or when those practices are introduced, as required by applicable law.

15. Your rights

In accordance with applicable Algerian data protection law, users may have the following rights:

16. Account deletion and data deletion

Users may request deletion of their Brikoula account and associated personal data by contacting:

Where the application provides an account deletion feature, users may also initiate deletion directly through the application.

Upon a valid deletion request, Brikoula will delete or anonymize personal data that is no longer necessary, subject to information that must be retained for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting or other legitimate purposes.

Deleting an account does not necessarily result in immediate deletion of all transaction, security or legally required records.

17. Minors

Brikoula is not designed as a children's application.

Users under 13 years of age do not have access to Brikoula's social networking and user-interaction features where age restrictions apply.

Brikoula may use the user's declared age or another applicable age-category mechanism to determine whether age-restricted social functionality should be available.

Where Brikoula becomes aware that personal data has been collected from a child in circumstances where such collection is not permitted, appropriate measures will be taken to delete the data or restrict the relevant functionality, subject to applicable legal requirements.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Brikoula may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:

  • Brikoula's features

  • Data processing practices

  • Payment and subscription functionality

  • Third-party service providers
